Space Solar’s 200kW Project for Tong Li Supermarket’s Auburn Warehouse

Space Solar has delivered a 200kW rooftop solar project for Tong Li Supermarket’s warehouse at 360 Chrisholm Rd, Auburn. Supporting Sydney’s largest Asian food supermarket group, this installation puts commercial roof space to work generating electricity on site and helping reduce the warehouse’s power bills.

The project figures tell the story: average generation of approximately 800kWh per day, estimated daily savings of $240, and a reported monthly electricity bill reduction from around $15,000 to $7,500.

Solar for the warehouse behind the supermarket shelves

The project serves Tong Li Supermarket’s warehouse, rather than an individual retail store. For a supermarket group, the facilities behind the scenes are an important part of keeping its retail network supplied. This Auburn project brings solar generation to that operational setting.

Space Solar’s installation makes use of the warehouse rooftop to generate power where it can support the site’s electricity needs. The five project videos below show the solar array, roof layout and warehouse exterior from complementary perspectives.

What the energy savings mean

For a business using electricity during daylight hours, rooftop solar can supply part of that demand directly. Every unit of solar electricity used on site can reduce the amount of electricity that needs to be purchased from the grid.

At this Auburn site, the supplied figures indicate a monthly bill roughly half its previous level. The 200kW rating describes the system’s capacity; the 800kWh figure describes its average daily energy generation. Actual output changes with sunlight, weather and season, while financial savings also depend on when the business uses power and its electricity tariff.

Figures are approximate and based on the information supplied for this project. The daily saving and monthly bill figures are separate indicators, not an exact daily-to-monthly calculation. Billing periods, site consumption, tariffs and solar output can vary. These figures are not a guaranteed outcome for other properties. All dollar amounts are in Australian dollars.

Could your business benefit from commercial solar?

A useful starting point is your electricity bill, daytime energy usage and available roof space. Together, these help establish which system size may suit your business and how much of its generation you could use on site.
